Investment Criteria

Platform seeks to invest between $10 and $50 million of equity capital in companies with a history of operating profitability.

Our experience (both good and bad) has shown that partnering with proven, successful managers is the most important contributor to a successful investment. We partner with management teams and entrepreneurs who are committed to building great companies through a combination of organic and acquisition growth. We invest in a variety of industries and consider ourselves “equity” investors but we are flexible on investment structures, including both majority and minority investments.

Historically, most of our investments have been recapitalizations of family or entrepreneur-owned companies that provide both liquidity and a meaningful continuing ownership position for the owners. We have also provided growth capital to companies to pursue strategic acquisitions or other growth initiatives. Our involvement often facilitates additional capital investments for acquisitions or other growth initiatives.

The Principals of Platform have been making private equity investments for over 30 years. Our recent history includes direct responsibility for 17 “platform” companies that executed over 100 “add-on” acquisitions. The value of these investments exceeds three times invested capital.
