Co-founded Platform and serves as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Fred is responsible for managing all aspects of the investment activities of Platform including capital raising, investment sourcing, due diligence and management of portfolio companies. Prior to founding Platform, Fred co-founded The CapStreet Group (and its predecessor company, Summit Capital) where he managed its private equity investments. Fred has significant operational experience, having served as Chief Executive Officer of American Tower Corporation and Advantage Outdoor Company, and as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Cardtronics.
Prior to founding CapStreet, Fred was a Senior Vice President of Duncan, Cook & Co. and a Vice President of Texas Commerce Bank, where he managed the bank’s venture capital portfolio. Fred serves on the Board of Directors of Cardtronics, Landmark FBO, TRE Financial Services, Avalon Advisors and, until recently, American Tower Corporation. Fred is active in the Houston community and serves on the board of Baylor College of Medicine and Amegy Bancshares. Fred received his BA from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Fred has three children and is an avid tennis player and baseball fan.
